Equality and Diversity Policy

Aims

WFC050 is committed to treating all people equally and with respect irrespective of their age, as defined within our articles of association, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation and in doing so aim to help our organization to have an atmosphere of friendship, respect and care for each other.

Accessibility

We aim to have all our activities and events in venues that are accessible to wheelchair users and use a PA system as appropriate.

We will also offer our newsletter in large print when requested.

Diversity

WFC050 belongs to all its members and we aim to organize a range of events and activities to suit their interest and meet their needs. For example send questionnaires to our members to obtain their ideas for activities, events, holidays and outings.

We will also introduce a “buddy system” for new members attending any of our activities, one off events or holidays.

Inclusion and respect

Every member and prospective member should be made to feel equally welcome and included at all our activities, events etc. Sexist, racists, homophobic or otherwise offensive remarks and behavior are not acceptable and have no place in our organization.

Dealing with discrimination and harassment

If any member feels they have been discriminated against by the WFC050 or harassed at any activity, event, etc. then they should raise the matter with the Board.

The Board will investigate the complaints, listening to all members involved. If the complaint is against a Board Member that members will not be part of the investigation.

If the complaint is against a particular individual, this person will have the opportunity to express their point of view, accompanied by a friend. The person making the complaint will also have this opportunity.

If the complaint is against the WFC050 as a whole, the Board must work to ensure that such discrimination is not repeated in the future and must inform members of how they proposed to do this

Any decision to exclude a person from WFC050 due to discriminatory or harassing behavior will be made by the Board, taking into account our articles of association. WFC050 will support members who feel they have been harassed or discriminated against and will not victimize or treat them less well because they have raised their issue.
